Not My Garden Picture

I have a confession to make. As a Plumbing Contractor in Florida, I'm praying for a very, very very, cold & snowy winter up north. (Do I need to explain why? We need work!). Although I think it's working, there's been a draw back........extra cold in Florida! Lows of 29, 24 & 22 are predicted again this week, and for the first time I'm really worried about the veggies in the garden. I'll do my best to cover them up, and then.........we'll see. In the meantime, I want to post this picture I took of my oldest daughter this past summer at the Bridge of Flowers in Shelbourne Falls, MA. to help remind me of the beauty of summer (and daughters!) and the never ending cycle of life.

    Beautiful photos, love the color of your daughter's hair up against those lilies!! WE will be flirting with the teens here in North Florida.

    Not so sure I like that you are praying for the cold weather up here (but now I know who to blame! LOL). I'm going to be naive and ask WHY does that make more business for you--is it because more of us northerners give it up for southern climates???

    Anyhow, hope your garden comes through fine. Wonderful picture!

    Exactly! For decades people from up north moved to Florida for the great weather & inexpensive real estate. Well the real estate got more expensive and, combined with the housing bubble, a lot fewer people are moving here. In 2006 my company put new plumbing in 2,500 new homes. 2007? 100. Here's hoping you have a miserable winter! (lol)

    Natural occurring organic material or animal waste. The new steps had to learn when went to organic gardening was how to improve the soil, control pests and weeds, all without resorting to chemicals.

    There is organic pest control material available at your garden store, but you need to read the directions carefully, since there could be certain specific application directions.

    Different kinds of flowers or plants need different amounts of fertilizer, water, and pruning. Maintenance will vary from plant to plant.
